Woodsmoke, the crunch of the ground underfoot, the bright, crisp days which can be sunny but cold and the intricate patterns painted by hoar frosts – just some of our favourite things about winter.
It’s one of our busiest times of year as we go to Christmas fairs and pack up lovely parcels for our fabulous customers (click here to see what we can send you).
Above all, winter is a time for contemplation, for home and for dreaming and planning new adventures. We will be busy in our workshop Myrtle Cottage (named after our brilliant cat) coming up with new formulas and products that combine our home-grown herbs and botanicals with the finest quality, ethically sourced natural ingredients and essential oils.
All our products are carefully handcrafted and steeped in our knowledge of herbs, herb lore and love of nature. We use our own herbs in everything from hand made soaps to herbal dream pillows.
Spending time in nature has taught us the importance of slow living. Whether it’s soaking in a warm herbal bath, deciding what to plant in your garden, relaxing after another busy day, meditating or spending time in nature, it’s important to take the time to look after yourself – and that includes your skin.
With a decade of experience in making lovely handmade herbal soaps you can be sure that there are no nasties just nourishing, natural oils. We don’t use parabens, palm oil, fake foamers, GMOs or any nasties and you’ll always know exactly what ingredients are in all of our products.
We aim to help you bring a bit more nature into your life by tapping into the potent properties of native herbs and wildflowers to nourish and care for your skin.
Welcome to Cooks Lane Herbs! We are a small family-run herb nursery – small because we grow everything in our back garden in Wigston, Leicestershire. We’re passionate about herbs and use them to make handmade herbal soaps and skin pampering treats. All our plants are grown without propagators, chemicals or electric heat sources.
Our soaps are made using the centuries’ old cold process method. We only make in small batches using a combination of olive oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil and golden rapeseed oil, which is produced at a nearby farm.
We add herbs, botanicals, clays and natural ingredients along with essential oils to create lovely handmade soaps that can be used on the face and body. All our soaps are vegetarian friendly, not tested on animals and all our packaging is recycleable.
Please feel free to browse our products pages to see our skincare range and plants – just click on the link above. We can also supply wedding favour soaps or soaps customised for your shop or business, and sell our herbs at plant fairs throughout the year.
We’re happy to help with any queries. If you’d prefer to have a chat in person then look out for us at Ashby and Market Bosworth Farmers’ Markets every month and at events throughout Leicestershire, Rutland and beyond. Click on the Events tab above to find out where we’ll be.
Look forward to meeting you! Sian and Richard
