A perennial aromatic herb which grows up to 3ft high. Has long yellow flowers borne on spikes, giving it the country name ‘church steeples’. Likes well-drained, sunny position but will tolerate some shade.

Agrimonia eupatoria


Greeks believed the plant had eye healing properties. Anglo-Saxons used it to ward off the Devil. An infusion of the dried leaves and flowers has been used as a mouthwash and gargle.
